Nearshoring and Silicon Border counter
I just wanted to point out that outsourcing can be done within the same region as well as overseas. While reading, I thought of how I pay our local grocery store a small fee to shop and deliver my groceries. If the management of my home is a business, I have essentially outsourced grocery shopping, a marginal and internal process, to the the store.
Also, I have to counter your position on offshoring and say businesses may actually favor offshoring. As technology continues to revolutionize the lives of those in developed countries, manufacturing demands will also increase. Labor will always be cheaper elsewhere and I argue that the inconveniences of language barrier is not nearly enough to completely reshore. There is definitely risk involved but the bottom line is what ultimately matters most to for-profit companies. What do you think?
