Important guidelines for essay:
Only use the sources given in the work cited page of planning sheet.( very imp)
Critical Argument Essays must be no fewer than 3.5 pages and no more
than 5 pages long.

All essays MUST include MLA 8 formatting (see the Purdue OWL online for guidelines)

All essays MUST be typed in Times New Roman, 12

pt font, with double

spacing throughout.

All essays MUST include a Works Cited page that includes all th
ree sources.

Primary source must be “An Eater’s Manifesto” by Michael Pollan.

Secondary sources must discuss issues relating to the narrowed topic:

1 source must present the oppositional or alternative
viewpoint
▪
No sources may come from the internet (only peer

reviewed journal articles,
newspaper articles, or magazine articles will be accepted)

Be sure that within the essay you begin with an engaging opening, a brief description of
the issue, and clear statement of the thesis.

Within the body of the essay, be sure to provide strong reasons to support yo
ur thesis.

Before you present your final reason and evidence, stop
and include the opposing view.
•
After the opposing view, state your final reason and evidence. Remember that the final
reason should be
your most important reason.
