Rhetoric analysis was instrumental in planning and drafting my essay on “The Benefits of Genetically Modified Plants (GMOs) in agriculture. The essay incorporated rhetorical techniques to engage my audience right from the introduction. The aim was to capture the audience’s interest through emphasizing the importance of GMOs in agriculture. The essay employed reasoned argument using the logos appeal to persuade the audience regarding the benefits of GMOs in agriculture. The pathos appeal was incorporated by taking discussing passionately about the top to evoke positive emotions from the audience regarding the topic. It takes the audience through the scope of the topic beyond mere farming practices to encompass global food security, environmental stability and biotechnological advancements. Rhetoric analysis is integral in planning and drafting my essay, as it helped in establishing its relevance to the target audience.

The thesis statement: Even though GMOs are believed to have negative impacts on society through perceived health risks, it does not due to its environmental benefits, increased food production, lower food costs and promote human well-being. This statement aligns with the Aristotelian rhetorical appeals of ethos, logos and pathos. Throughout the essay, ethos is stablished through references to authoritative sources and research. The logical structure of my argument underlines the logos by systematically outlining the main points. Pathos are more subtly integrated in the essay, but the intent was to evoke empathy and emotional engagement through stressing the global food security concerns and ethical considerations related to GMO use.

The rhetorical analysis’ body directly tackle the topic. The analysis breaks it down into paragraphs for the easier understanding by the audience. Each paragraph of the essay focuses on a different element of the topic, but they all contribute to the overall argument of the essay around the benefits of GMOs. The goal of each paragraph is to speak about the importance of GMOs in relation to the global food security concern and ethical consideration regarding GMO use to target audience. They incorporate the ethos, logos and pathos appeal to achieve the objective of appealing to the audience regarding the importance of GMOs. The three appeals were employed throughout the essay to appeal to the audience’s emotions regarding the use of GMOs. Although, the pathos appeal is subtly used, they are strategically used to make the audience trust the presented argument and feel empathetic about the dire food security concern globally. The essay incorporates, claims, supports and warrants that enhance the credibility of the argument throughout the essay.

However, there are two specific areas of my essay where some feedback is needed. The aspect of source integration and citation is something I am grappling with. My focus is to achieve seamless source incorporation into the essay using appropriate signal phrases and citation styles consistently throughout the essay. The other concern is missing citations and intend to ensure adequate support for every claim or statement throughout the paper using relevant sources. Achieving the right balance between the rhetoric analysis and the information from my sources is crucial for the overall quality of the essay. I find it challenging to convey the economic and ethical implications of GMO adoption with clarity. These aspects are complex, and my aim to define key terms and concepts related to these implications. Besides, I can achieve proper illustration of points throughout the essay using real-world examples or case studies. Proper supports for my arguments and connection to the thesis statement is also imperative in the essay. I believe addressing these aspects would enhance the overall impression of essay and how it captivates the target audience. I am open to receiving constructive feedback from my peers to enhance these aspects of my essay.
