Philanthropy Goals and Volunteer Management
Raising money is an important function of a nonprofit. Donations made can help the nonprofit successfully meet its mission. Fundraising is short-term in nature, while philanthropy focuses on a person’s or organization’s relationship with and commitment to an institution. Having a well laid out plan can enhance a nonprofit’s success in meeting its goals. For this assignment, you will create a hypothetical nonprofit of your choosing. You will then describe your nonprofit, develop either a fundraising plan or a philanthropy plan, and draft an email to your volunteer workers. You will use this nonprofit in future weeks of this course.
Prior to beginning work on this assignment,
· Think about the kind of nonprofit organization you would want to create.
· Read Chapters 9 and 13 in your textbook.
· Read Nonprofit Fundraising Plan: How to Design a Strategic Plan to Grow Giving Links to an external site. .
· Read Does Use of Emotion Increase Donations and Volunteers for Nonprofits?Links to an external site.
· Watch How to Write a Mission Statement Links to an external site. .
In your paper,
· Describe your hypothetical nonprofit.
· State the name.
· Identify the type of nonprofit it is and why you are categorizing it as such.
· Create a mission statement for the nonprofit.
· Discuss what your nonprofit does to satisfy the mission statement.
· Develop a fundraising or philanthropy plan.
· Include one goal, two objectives to meet the goal, and two strategies that your nonprofit will do to meet the objective in your plan.
· Be sure to keep in mind the scope, timeline, and purpose of your fundraising and philanthropy goals.
· Explain how your plan supports fundraising or philanthropy.
· Be sure to distinguish between fundraising and philanthropy.
· Create an email to those overseeing the volunteer workers who are helping with the fundraising and philanthropy efforts of your nonprofit. This email should include the following:
· motivation strategies
· your preferred management theory and how the management theory can be used
· at least two challenges you might foresee
· suggestions for overcoming these challenges
