Week 1
My understanding of field education experience,is the being provided with an opportunity to
put the various things that we learn during our various courses into play, as well as the
opportunity learn and grow more with our skills which will allow to become more efficientin
the field
My role as an intern in my field education experience is first make sure that I represent not only
myself with dignity and respect but represent Walden as well. Another role as an intern is to
display an continued willingnessto want to learn and grow in the field. My role as an intern will
be to also facilitate groups, conducts assessments, documentation, as well as other duties outline
in the agreement between myself, Walden, and my placement site.
Week 2
The only potential challenges in adhering to confidentiality in my field experience would be
discussing experiences during class, but I do not see that really a problem because I would
NEVER disclose the individual's real name or any other identifying information.
A description of my agency's policies/mandates with regard to confidentiality is that information
shared by the client is kept private unless their consent is given to share the information, or if the
information falls within the parameter of the limits of confidentiality. All information shared
during the intake process, individual sessions, and group sessions are to be kept confidential
unless the information disclosed refers to the clients want harm his/herself or someone else.
Potential challenges in communicating with clients within my agency could be that my clients
may not be as trusting or willing to engage and interact with me because I'm a intern and not a
fully licensed therapist. My clients within my agency not being as trusting or willing to engage
and interact with me could make it very hard for to build a good rapport with them.
Week 3
I will follow all of the safety rules and guidelines that have been put in place. I will also never
put myself in any situation that makes me feel unsafe or uncomfortable. If I am asked to do
something that makes me feel unsafe or uncomfortable, I will speak out on it to my field
supervisor. If I am ever alone with a client for whatever reason I will always make sure that my
back is NEVER turned to or facing the client and that I am always sitting closest the exit. I will
always be sure to make my safety my number 1 priority.
I dont believe that my personal safety plan would differ from my agency's safety plan, because
the things in my safety plan are common practice.
Week 4
The role of supervision in my field education experience is help to gain more knowledge and
experience in the foundation and basic/foundational practices in social work, as well as gain
more experience with the basic skills/tools of social work.
My field instructor’s leadership style is not that does not uses micro management. My field
supervisor will assign task to me daily and then make his self available in the event I have any
questions or need assistance. I actually work very closely with my field supervisor, which I like a
lot because I will feel working closely with him everyday that I am there will help me to get the
best out of my field experience while I am there.
I do believe and feel like his leadership style will promote my agency’s learning agreement
during my field education experience. Because I am able to work closely with him everyday that
I am at my placement site and the fact that he makes his self available to me whenever I have
any questions or need any assistance on any of the tasks he assigned to me is really great.
Week 5
The policy at my field placement site is to provide a safe work environment and foster the well-
being and health of its employees. The drug-free workplace policy states “It is a violation of
company policy for an employee to use, possess, sell, trade, offer for sale, or offer to buy illegal
drugs or otherwise engage in the illegal use of drugs on or off the job”
Garth Wait, C. L. (2017). Chapter 9 (P.102)” Depending on your practicum setting, you will
need to become familiar with a range of social policies that most directly influence the
operations of your agency, its own agency policies, your role, and its clients or consumers”.
As an intern at Recovery Unlimited, a set of policies of reporting, responding, and practice
procedures were given to me to read and review. I found the policies to be very clear and
straightforward and easy to understand.
Garthwait, C. L. (2017). The social work practicum: A guide and workbook for students (7th
ed.). Upper Saddle River, NJ: Pearson. Chapter 9, "The Social Policy Context of Practice" (pp.
97-108).
Week 6
I have not experienced any legal consideration during my field education experience, but a legal
consideration that I may have to address is client confidentiality
Potential challenges in following legal consideration(s) during my field education experience
would limits of client confidentiality. If a client were to disclose plans to cause harm to
themselves or others, then confidentiality must be broken and the proper authorities must be
notified immediately informed in order to prevent any harm being done and to ensure the safety
of the individual(s) involved in the threat that was made.
Week 7
A description of diversity and/or cultural competence considerations at my agency is that there is
no discrimination. At my agency all clients are welcomed regardless of their gender
identification, race, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, religion, etc, and the same applies
for the employees as well. Being able to gain experience with working with clients of various
backgrounds could assist with being able to be more culturally competent, which is very
important as a social worker.
Diversity and/or cultural competence reflects my agency's learning agreement because it cultural
competence and diversity was included in my learning agreement.
Week 8
An explanation of the use of self during your field education experience that you may have
encountered or that you might encounter
I do not have any personal self-experiences in my field education experience. My field
placement provides outpatient substance addiction treatment amongst other things. But I
primarily have contact with individuals with substance use.
A description of potential boundary challenges in your field education experience
A potential boundary challenge in my field experience could be clients not be trusting or willing
to listen to me because I have not personally experience substance addiction
Week 9
In the social work field, we must learn to engage and work with individuals, families, as well as
groups. I think it is very important that as social workers to have interconnectedness and
interdependence that make it successful working with clients in our community. I currently work
with individuals as young as 7 with the oldest being I believe 65 years old. At my field
placement site I have worked with individual in a group context. I have not yet worked with
families just yet, but I am looking forward to doing so.
Week 10
It is the policy of Recovery Unlimited to suit to provide fair and nondiscriminatory opportunities.
Recovery Unlimited Employee Manual that is listed as 1.5 quotes” It is the policy of Recovery
Unlimited that it will provide equal opportunity for employment on the basis enumerated in
federal, state, and local laws applicable to it, except where a prohibition on discrimination is
inconsistent with the religious principles of Recovery Unlimited. Such equal opportunity for
employment will apply to recruitment and hiring, training, promotion, salaries and other
compensation, transfer and layoff or termination.”
In our studies, Garth wait, C. L. (2017). Chapter 9 (P.102)” Depending on your practicum
setting, you will need to become familiar with a range of social policies that most directly
influence the operations of your agency, its own agency policies, your role and its clients or
consumers”.
As an intern at Recovery Unlimited, a certain set of policies of reporting, responding, and
procedures has been furnished for me to read over. I am as though I have become very
familiarized with the policy and I know what is expected

Week 11
Depsite the high levels of stress and other person things, I had a very good expereince during
field 3. My evaluation has not yet been completed, but based on the things I have done and the
feedback that I have gotten, I am expecting to have a good review. I feel as though a lot of the
things that were on my learning agreement were completed and accomplished. I am looking
forward to field IV and completing the program.
