Cross-cultural Psychology Research
Cross-cultural psychology is an important scientific study concerning mental processes
and human behaviors. The main advantage of the qualitative method in the study related to the
cross-cultural psychology study is that it enriches a comprehensive view of the variability of in-
depth understanding and patterns. (Singelis, (2009). For example, it is easy to have an apparent
compression on how the analysis was done, thus making it easier to understand. The primary
challenge found while using the qualitative method in the cross culture study is balancing
analytical distance during different data collection stages and the empirical closure.
On the other hand, the main merit of using quantitative research is that the research is
highly reliable, thus having consistent outcomes. Using quantitative research, the result is
accurate and consistent over time, thus clear evidence that the method fully represents the entire
population being studied. (Yaqubi,(2006). The main demerit of using quantitative research in the
study is that it has a problematic setting for the model. Quantitative research requires a keen
development of the hypothesis and detailed data collected and analyzed. If there can be a rise in
the error in the study, the complete study results are invalidated.
