Week 1 Journal
The main aim of this paper is to document my practicum clinical experience of the first,
second and fourth week. My practicum takes place at Grace Counseling Center with preceptor’s
guidance of Tumikee Johnson. In reference to Benner, Sutphen, Leonard, & Day, (2010) nursing
students are expected to progress from beginners to competent and reliable healthcare providers
in the attainment and practical application of nursing skills. To best guide my practice in
practicum and psychotherapy, this journal will be anchored on and Levine’s Conservation Model
Neuman’s System Model The article will also address three priorities for this practical .

Levine’s Conservation Model
In 1973 Myra Levine introduced the conservation model as a way of understanding how
nurses and patients communicate (Wills, 2007). This model saw individuals as active participants
communicating with the world through their sensory organs and searching for information from
