Playing to one's strengths rather than one's limitations is what Tom Rath's 2007 article
"Strengths Finder 2.0" advises readers to do if they want to be successful. According to the
author, this book is meant to guide its readers in identifying their unique strengths and
developing them into skills that will aid them in all aspects of their lives.
The author did a lot of research and analysis to develop a framework that people may use
to determine their unique skills and how to improve them (Rath, 2007). Over two million people
participated in the survey, and its creator used their responses to create the Clifton Strengths
Finder, an online evaluation tool.
The questionnaire was designed to generate replies that lighten the participants' innate
skills and preferences. A model capable of appreciating the value of the strengths exhibited by
each respondent was developed by analyzing the data to uncover commonalities and patterns.
The theoretical foundation of this study is positive psychology, which argues that, to
achieve in life, one must focus on their strengths rather than their faults (Rath, 2007). To get the
most out of the book, the author advises readers to concentrate on strengthening their existing
strengths rather than trying to fix their flaws.
The study suggests that people who capitalize on their abilities are happier at work,
produce better results, and have tremendous professional success. Focusing on one's strengths
and working to improve such attributes can increase one's prospects of career success and
personal satisfaction (Rath, 2007). This is something they can achieve on a personal level as well
as in their careers. The book guides the reader, outlining the steps to zero in on their most
commendable qualities and learning how to use them in various settings.
