My ideal world is one in which society places a high priority on and places importance on
the health and happiness of all its members, irrespective of their origins, cultures, or identities. I
believe it is possible to create a world where equality and inclusivity are the norms, all people
have equal opportunities and resources, and variety is embraced as a strength rather than a
weakness. Furthermore, people in this society are encouraged to recognize their full potential and
are given assistance as they work toward their goals and aspirations.
My professional and academic aspirations, aligned with my vision for constructive social
change, led me to pursue a doctoral degree in forensic psychology. My objective is to put my
knowledge and experience to use to help build a society that is just and equitable and in which
persons whose lives have been impacted by the criminal justice system are afforded care that is
both effective and humane. By supporting evidence-based programs and policies that promote
rehabilitation rather than punishment, my goal is to address the underlying factors contributing to
criminal behavior and lower recidivism rates (Miller et al., 2019). My long-term objective is to
foster positive social change by working toward creating a more egalitarian, just, and
compassionate society for all community members.
