This week I took the Emotional Intelligence Test, the Time Management Evaluation, and
the Mindset Evaluation to gauge my personal growth. The most important aspects of each
evaluation are as follows:
Emotional Intelligence Test:
• I have a high emotional intelligence score, indicating that I am self-conscious, able to control
my emotions, socially aware, and effectively manage my relationships with others (Stankovska
et al., 2018).
• My most significant quotient was self-awareness, indicating that I understand my feelings well.
• My relationship management score was the lowest, suggesting that I could benefit from honing
my skills in persuasion and leadership (Stankovska et al., 2018).
Mindset Assessment:
• I have a growth attitude, as my relatively high mindset score indicates.
• Learning from mistakes was my strongest suit, and my high score suggests that I can turn
negative experiences into learning opportunities (Petscher & Wanzek, 2021).
• My lowest score was in the "seeking challenges" category, suggesting that I may benefit from
actively seeking new challenges and learning opportunities.
This exercise helped me reflect on my progress as a Ph.D. student and a forensic
psychologist so far and identify areas in which I might use further development. Reading
people's emotions and responding appropriately has been valuable in my professional and
2
personal life. While I am good at planning and keeping on track, I may use more practice when
delegating responsibilities and actively seeking out new challenges.
With my newfound insight into myself, I will be better equipped to plan for, and deal
with, the challenges I will face as a doctorate student in forensic psychology. I may better
prepare for academic and professional success by taking stock of my current abilities and
identifying those needing improvement (Petscher & Wanzek, 2021). When I take on more
challenging projects and duties, I can hone skills like delegation that will serve me well. I can
actively seek out novel experiences and learning opportunities that will aid in my professional
development as a forensic psychologist.
