Ethics in research refer to the moral principles and guidelines than shape a research
design and approach (Panicker & Stanley, 2021). Ethics provide rules that govern the process of
conducting research. Communities are different, and their cultural norms might dictate the
conduct of research. It, therefore, becomes imperative for the researcher to abide by ethical
considerations when interacting with the research subjects to maintain the quality and credibility
of the study. These ethical considerations include informed consent, confidentiality, voluntary
participation, and potential harm (Fisher & Vacanti-Shova, 2012). Ethics must play a significant
role where vulnerable groups are concerned. Groups such as children and mentally challenged
people require ethical considerations before subjecting them to a research study.
