PSYCHOLOGY 2
Piaget's theory is an extensive theory. To understand human intellect, you must first
understand it. It can also describe the process by which human intelligence grows over time.
It explains how a person acquires a certain amount of information. It also explains how to put
what you've learned to good use (Sanghvi, 2020).
Mental development is said to occur in stages for children. Cognitive mental
development in children progresses in four stages:-
1. Sensorimotor Stage: From birth until age two. Many activities are learned through trial and
error. Without the use of any symbols, motor processes begin here (Jacobs et al., 2019).
2. Pre-operational Stage: From two to seven years is the typical lifespan of this treatment.
With the emergence of language, we begin our journey. At this point, the capacity of the
brain's memory begins to grow. A child's imagination also begins to run wild (Nambeye,
2020).
3. Concrete operational: It lasts between seven and eleven years. Children become more
conscious of their immediate surroundings, atmosphere, and individuals.
4. Formal operational: It begins in adolescence and lasts through maturity. Here, the
youngster is allowed to formulate several hypotheses. The ability to understand a relationship
and the people in it is also improved.
When I was younger, by 3 years, I had a doll of my own. It was a mechanical
doll that had been programmed. When I was a kid, my favorite doll included spring
mechanisms. Whenever we fully tightened the spring of our doll, it would begin to move and
make a musical note when it did. Also, like a flower, its garment used to spread.

That doll was a constant companion in my life. That doll was one I used to take care
of. It seemed like I had a second mother. At the time, I was in Piaget's "Pre-Operational
Stage" of cognitive development. My ability to imagine things was increasing. I also used to
converse with that doll for long periods (Nambeye, 2020).
For me, it had taken on a life of its own, and I couldn't stop thinking about it. The
last time someone tried to take my doll away from me, I got into a fight with them and broke
down in tears. We formed a strong emotional attachment.
