The social error/bias that affects me most is social expectations followed by ‘one of
us/one of them’.I glide in/out, through and between the two.Overcoming them is a
real problem that has taken more than 10 years to figure out.I’ll start with education
at home, at school, at the playground or at work – all are relevant.Secondly,
deciding to take action to overcome the barrier that hinders my growth.Lastly,
exercise patience while embracing and trusting the process of change.
In a partnership, the person who makes the most money makes all or most of the
decisions on how/where to spend the money. This is the fallacy that my husband
lived by.Poor little thing – he’s better now.Honestly, in the begging of our
relationship, I had no idea how to be married or what it really meant to be a
‘partner’.We used our critical thinking skills and made the decision to get help by
way of our pastor, his father and the Huxtables.
The short interactive videos work well for me.They seem to have a personal touch
and I like the idea of listening then answering the question to test what you’ve
learned. This course is self-reflective, and every scenario makes me want to tell ‘my
story’.
