I believe the two biggest environmnetal challenges we currently face are pollution and
global warming. Personally i believe these two go hand in hand, pullution in this country
gets worse by the second. I have a strong interest in pollution and how its destroying our
rivers and oceans. Lost fishing gear, plastic bags and plastic utensils are the top 3
deadliest trash items found in the ocean. Over 1 million marine animals are killed each
year due to plastic debris in the ocean. These are things we as humans are doing, this is
preventable and this is manageable. I believe this is one the biggest challenges we are
facing as a nation. We need these fishes and aniamls to survive, when the ocean
becomes filled with plastics and trash we will no longer have these water resources and
food resources.
As i mentioned earlier i also think global warming is an environmental challenge because
of all the chemicals being released into the atmostpher day after day. Global warming is
something we need to be able to control to live, when it is too rapid it can lead to
species extinction.
In the recent years I have heard so much about global warming and how the weather is
being affected by global warming and the thing that we need to do to change the global
warming. The other one that I do see because the area in which I live is air pollution.
Where I live in Mississippi logging industry is what is the booming industry. You see the
smoke going into the air from the paper mills. When I did the Build Your Proficiency, I
saw how issues that go in with the environment is something that is watched before it is
addressed and put into law. There are steps that are needed to take to make a change. I
see that to have a change we must be educated about what is going on in the
environment and willing to help make a change.
I think two major environmental challenges we face in society is deforestation and
pollution. I feel as though these challenges are major issues that are affecting our planet
and environment. After doing the build your proficiency diagnostic i feel that i struggled
a bit especially the first chapter because, of lack of understanding, but I studied some
more and I took the time to understand which I feel helped me in understanding many
of these issues. Some of the things that I learned about these issues is that not everyone
is taking these issues seriously and people don't really understand that deforestation and
pollution are affecting or environment. Deforestation and pollution are also hurting the
animals and their environments some animals are indangered of becoming extinct. I
think that we as a society should learn more and try to help our planet, the environment
and animals. We should all do our part to help make a positive change, maybe be more
eco friendly, like less cars on the road, recycling, help plant more trees etc. I feel that
these things could. Help deforestation and pollution.
