For my proposed thesis I used the article "How Social Media Endangers Knowledge"
because I truly belive that the world of social media encourages lazy information
retention. Most people have a feed that is filled by people/pages/accounts that share
a similar viewpoint of the person "scrolling". Celebrities and influencers will share an
opinion/inaccurate fact and if the person reading it declines to do their independent
research, they effectively will be lead to believe a certain way without developing
their own opinions. The internet has been given to use and we, more than any other
generation have access to unlimited information, but with that has come a mindset
of laziness. Like the common quote "with great power comes great responsibility" we
too need to handle the power of information the internet provides because it is a free
platforms filled with opinions. It is up to us as individuals to do our own independent
research to know both sides of an opinion and know what actual facts are available
for article that is posted on our newsfeeds.
