Visual representation is a graphical presentation of information and data, analyze massive
amount of information and make data-driven decisions. It gives an accessible way to see and
understand trends, outliers and pattern in data. It is a visual art that curate data and information in
easier form. Based on the information and data, the way to represent it may differ.
A common type of data representation is chart, graph, or diagram that shows comparison. Line
graph, area chart, scatter plot reveals form or pattern based on the data collected. Point and figure
chart, kagi chart shows changes in price, most often found within the stock market or financial
sectors.
As visual representation is the best storyteller of accumulating data with a purpose, dozens of
tools for creating such has been developed. Tableau, Infogram, ChartBlocks, Datawrapper,
Plotly, RAW, Visual.ly, D3.js, Ember Charts are some data visualization tools for presentation
with big data. Though simple chart and graph can also be created using Microsoft word. The
visual presentation of market share report was created using Microsoft word. The report above
contains two visual representation that are table chart and pie chart.
A pie chart that was shown above illustrates numerical proportion of market share of two
different company. Fig 1 represent market share report of Tax Preparation Industry in 2015. It
has generated $20 billion revenue in 2015. Fig1.a, and Fig1.b presents table and pie chart with
market share in % simultaneously.
Fig 2 represent market share report of Leading Payroll and Bookkeeping Service Providers in
2014. It has generated revenues of $61 billion in 2014. Fig2.a, and Fig2.b presents table and pie
chart with market share in % simultaneously.
C-suite within a company represent an executive level managers that illustrates companies
policies. The visual data that has a pie chart and table illustration of market share report defines a
brief view of market share. To represent such information to c-suite, I would present a
presentation with a verbal communication. I would brief them about all the on-going data about
the project. Before that I would mail them about what am I going to present them about so that
they would have general idea about what am I going to represent about. This helps them to
understand what is going on the project and can view out their suggestion and ideas.
