This is a pretty hard question to just have one answer, but my suggestion would be
building their own pc, for photos and video storage I would go with a large hdd but for
gaming I would go for an ssd or two. When it comes to processors, just browsing the
internet you wouldn’t need a lot of power there, for editing I would want as many cores
as possible, and then for gaming I would find a solid quad core because most modern
games do not utilize cores past four, For memory seeing as most browsers are heavy, as
well as games and editing, I would probably go for 16 gigs of ram, as for graphics if it’s
mostly used for the internet, intergraded graphics should be fine, gaming depending on
budget I would go 1660 ti for entry level 2070 super for mid level and 2080 ti for top tier.
Video editing depends on how serious and how often you do it, if it’s a passion you
spend a lot of time on I would grab something strong to cut down on rendering time,
but if it’s just a light hobby and I’m not pushing deadlines I would save the money and
go mid range.
I would definitely recommend a Desktop PC for my friend because they are usually able
to fit more powerful components than a laptop and they would have the ability to find a
desktop with a discrete graphics card if they plan on using it for intensive photo and
video editing. We would want to find a desktop computer with lots of RAM and a multi-
core processor which would be ideal for multi-tasking. After looking at several options, I
would recommend the HP Gaming Desktop Pavilion TG0-0020 which has an Intel Core i5-
9400F CPU, 8GB RAM, and 256 GB SSD storage. This option is an affordable desktop with
a gaming theme but is also great for photographers. It has a Nvidia GeForce GTX
graphics card which is useful for photo and video editing when compared to the
standard integrated graphics found in many PCs. It also includes a multi-card memory
reader that makes importing pictures from your camera easier. If the storage fills up,
there is an option to add an external hard drive. I would say building a computer would
be the best way to go there is also prior built computers with lots of power from storage
to graphic cards. If my friend wants to go all out and spend 2 grand on a computer I
would recommend T730 with NVIDIA RTX 2070 Graphics with 2 TB of storage, 3 graphic
cards, 8 ports to connect your USB devices headphones, and your keyboard and mouse.
Now if my friend didn't have much to spend I would recommend him get a laptop with
Windows 10 and enough storage for him/her to do what they need. Most windows based
laptops come with built in application like, photo shop and office for work necessities
and adobe photo shop to edit his videos or pictures. In my opinion gaming computers
are top tier for anything you want to do you might not need the graphics card to do
everything but the processors in these gaming computers now a day run smooth without
problems. Building a computer helps you learn the hardware that connects to mother
board one piece at a time. There always a computer that fits any role you are looking
for. In this particular case, I would suggest a PC that can handle the workload, not be
that expensive, and can be easy to work with to customize specific parts. When I was
looking for a computer to game with and surf the internet, I was scared about the cost.
In my personal experience, when recommending a computer to my friends, they can be
sticker shocked. So I will go with mid-tier options to fill the needs of this friend while not
getting too crazy. I would go with AMD Ryzen 5(CPU), GTX 1050(GPU), 1TB SSD(storage).
This mid-tier GPU and CPU accomplishes everything they need. Anything more for what
their uses are is an unnecessary cost and completely optional. The SSD over hard drive is
a personal preference for loading speeds. As far as external hardware, nothing flashy is
needed to game or edit. Any mouse and keyboard would satisfy their needs. When my
friend's demands lean toward gaming or editing more, parts can always be upgraded to
meet them.
