NUR 310 – Quality and Safety in Healthcare
(Prerequisite/Co-requisite: NUR 300 – Transition to Baccalaureate Nursing Practice)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Explores the concepts of evidence-based practice, teamwork, collaboration, patient-centered
care, and the ethical, legal, and technological issues associated with promoting a culture of
safety, quality improvement processes, and quality assurance. Students will plan, implement,
and evaluate a quality and/or safety initiative consistent with caring concepts and the QSEN
framework.

5. Use evidence to promote quality and performance improvement within healthcare settings.
6. Recommend effective change principles related to safe, client-centered care.
7. Demonstrate understanding of various quality and safety team strategies.
8. Apply concepts of healthcare informatics to continuous quality improvement.
9. Apply leadership principles to quality and performance improvement.
10. Understand the legal and financial implications related to quality and safety issues within
healthcare.

WEEKLY COURSE SCHEDULE
