Before I dive into selecting the cloud service model I want to write about in this discussion,
let me first say that cloud computing is subscribing and accessing internet resources via the
web. In this web-based model, software vendors host and maintain the servers, databases, and
code that makes up an application. Some of the examples of SaaS are CRM, Email ERP
etcetera (IBM).
Vulnerability and Insufficient Data Security. This can cause loss of integrity because
security is one of the top concerns, I found from my research for companies who are looking
to opt for a SaaS-based application model. The fear for data breaches, losses, and its’ effect
on the company's reputation and finances, not to mention the harm that can be done to the
end customers remains one of the top concerns of businesses as thread actors are engaging in
incessant cyberwar. This means that poor integration can become a vulnerability that may be
easily assessed+by hackers. This makes keeping your connection with another system safe
requires following the company’s policy, agency standards, control, and constant
improvement which leads to a more sophisticated outcome (IEEE Access). Companies’
information, such as proprietary and other important business personal information would be
stored on the cloud which is also vulnerable to hacks.
DoS (Denial of Service)/downtime. Downtime can cripple a business as customers
can easily lose confidence in you and take their business to your competitors. There are
several factors that can cause DoS in an organization since SaaS is internet-based +(Sensors).
For example, all applications and infrastructure required to deliver its servers, storage,
networking,+middleware, application software,+data storage+are hosted and managed by
the+SaaS+vendor, and this requires an internet connection. +If for any reason there is no
internet, assuredly that can cause downtime.
Low performance. Web-based applications and large documents and images require a
lot of bandwidth. SaaS will not work well on low-speed connections.+ SaaS can sometimes be
slower even with very fast connection speeds, although web-based applications can
sometimes be slower than accessing a similar software or program on a desktop or laptop
computer.
