Teenagers and sports
Offering competitive video gaming activities as an elective in high schools would benefit
teenagers' development. This is because esports in schools can help students develop teamwork
and communication skills, give students a chance to bond with each other, and teach students
how to be strategic and think critically.
Offering esports in schools can help students develop teamwork and communication
skills. Tang, W. (2018). Affirms that to be successful in esports, players need to be able to work
together as a team. They also need to be able to communicate effectively with each other. By
playing esports in school, students can learn how to be part of a team and how to communicate
with each other.
In addition, offering esports in schools can teach students how to be strategic and think
critically. Esports requires players to think critically about their next move. They need to be able
to plan ahead and make decisions quickly. By playing esports, students can learn these skills and
apply them in other areas of their lives.
There are also some potential disadvantages that should be considered in offering esports
in schools. One key concern is that esports can be highly addictive and may lead to students
spending too much time gaming instead of attending to their studies. Finally, Another concern is
the way in which some competitive games are played. For example, games such as League of
Legends and Dota 2 often involve players working together as a team to achieve victory. This
can lead to players feeling like they need to cooperate with others to be successful, which may
not be beneficial in a school setting
In conclusion, offering esports in schools is beneficial to students because it can help
them develop teamwork and communication skills, give them a chance to bond with each other,

and teach them how to be strategic and think critically. but according to wong (2021) it has to be
in a controlled manner because it can cause addiction to students, joint pains because of
consistence use of pads and also nutritional negligence and lack of exercise.
