8-1 Discussion: Making Connections
Examining my beliefs, assumptions, and values related to my research question has affected how I
process information in my daily life in a variety of ways. Although I already held the belief and
assumption not to trust the media and was already aware of how images can be posted to media outlets
to sway the opinions of individuals without the true narrative behind them being presented, I still would
sometimes get caught up in some of the information without doing any research to back up what was
being claimed in the posts. Now I make a more conscious effort to do a little research if there is
something that catches my attention, but for the most part I just ignore a lot of the mainstream social
