The industry credential that has been chosen is Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design which is commonly known as LEED. The specific credential
has been chosen because the certification has been designed with the intention
to improve performance in terms of energy efficiency, water efficiency, the
reduction in the emissions of carbon dioxide, improving the indoor quality of air
and the demonstration of stewardship of resources (Kenlon, 2021).
The LEED certification is mainly relevant in the context of buildings and
infrastructural facilities. It is for all building types, and building phases such as
new construction and operations and maintenance (What is LEED? U.S. Green
Building Council, 2021).
The certification would basically affirm a professional’s in-depth understanding
of green building practices and principles.
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is the most widely
applicable green building rating system that is recognized all across the globe
(What is LEED? U.S. Green Building Council, 2021).
Funds Requested The registration and certification fee is based on a project’s rating system and
size. Under the campus fees category the master site registration for ‘Silver Gold
and Platinum Level’ members is $ 1200 whereas the registration amount for
organizational level or non-members is $ 1500 (What is LEED? U.S. Green
Building Council, 2021).
