Triple Bottom Line (TBL) increases innovation, which enables companies to generate more
value in multiple ways (Soomo Learning, 2020). TBL framework encourages businesses to think
beyond profits. By adapting to this new way of thinking business can build towards a strong
future around social and environmental issues. Incorporating TBL framework in both the service
industry and manufacturing industry will encourage a positive culture, employee growth and
development.

The differences that exist between incorporating the TBL framework into the service industry
and the manufacturing industry is that unlike profit, social and environmental bottom lines are
difficult to measure. In larger businesses it may also be difficult to choose one bottom line and
easily pivot from one bottom line to the other (Kenton, 2024). Both industries have more
differences than similarities. A major difference is the environment impact. The manufacturing
industry typically involves energy consumption, waste generations and emissions. The service
industry entails more involvement around social impact.
Provide an example of a strategy that is appropriate to use across both the service and the
manufacturing industries and provide an example that is specific to either the service or
the manufacturing industry when considering people, planet, or profit through the TBL
framework. Include a brief explanation of what each example demonstrates.
An example strategy that is appropriate to use across both the service and manufacturing
industries is employee training and development. Employee training and development will help
improve training, skills, safety practice and employee knowledge. Leading to improved
performance and productivity. These areas will help with employee satisfaction, company
culture, and retention. All three areas through the TBL framework.
