their own work versus the journalist’s summary in the popular media
article?
The authors of the peer-reviewed journal article summarized their work by
using the typical elements of an APA-style report: Title, Abstract,
Introduction, Method, Results, Discussion and References. However, the
journalist’s summary in the popular media article did not follow the APA-
style guidelines and therefore had no real structure to their article. The
peer-reviewed journal article focused on the APA-style guidelines to make
sure that all the information needed was included and in a neat and
organized way, while the media article focused on just getting readers, not
presenting accurately researched data. The authors of the peer-reviewed
journal gave an incredibly detailed description of the summary of their

media article just wanted an attention-grabbing article that was generalized
