Environtamilism Today:- mass/social movement: there is a lot of overlap when it is discussed -
Mass: a large group of individuals who are behind it; not all, but many outsider tactics: citizens
who are dissatisfied with the government. Those who do not play the game as it is typically
played: - Green Party: run for office. Insider strategy for running the government: recruit
lobbyists and operate like any other lobbyist movement. Hippies are no longer the only ones
interested; it has become much more popular. Do we refer to it as a movement or an
organization? Slime makes the case for mass because it is morally right to protect all of the
ecosystem's inhabitants. - Most of the job is accomplished through backroom dealings with
politicians, contacts, and other institutions.
Green IGs struggle for government funding and donors. Mainstream organizations have
multimillion dollar budgets, employ lobbyists, and resemble any interest group; grassroots
organizations are more concerned with local concerns and don't seek to be national in scope.
Lack of wealth makes one more readily overlooked. Organizations will disband once their goals
are met. Radical green: utilize stronger outside tactics: participate in direct action, nationali.
