The city's policing policy has come under growing criticism and scrutiny, which is
extremely indicative of the current environment in the United States. It is the duty of the police
chief to earn back the community's trust by creating an enhanced policing strategy and policy
that is in line with recent cultural shifts and better supports the local populace. This is a huge task
that cannot be completed satisfactorily by one person. Strategic planning and change within a
company cannot be successful without the backing and dedication of key decision makers. They
also include information that is crucial to the planning process, such as who needs to be
involved, when crucial decisions will need to be made, what conditions must be met for the
process to be successful, and what arguments are most likely to succeed at different stages of the
process. Furthermore, they are able to offer vital resources including authority, personnel
assignments, a budget, and meeting rooms (Bryson, 2018, p.77).
Collaboration and participation from important parties are required. With this strategy,
the key concerns pertaining to the city's policing policy can be addressed in an open and
transparent forum by credible law enforcement, elected officials, civic leaders, and activists.
Assessing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and dangers is the next crucial duty (SWOT).
Researching guiding principles from other communities and cities, data, reviewing and
identifying current policies, and recognizing where change is required are all critical steps in the
information gathering process. A successful strategy necessitates a cooperative, all-
encompassing approach with all community partners, combining all of the agreed-upon
measures, addressing the police departments' mandates, rules, and laws, and training initiatives to
better serve the community and its needs.
