As discussed in the last email, the most prevalent reasons for a failure to change within
an organization are related to issues such as misalignment, missed communication, superficial
compliance, purpose gaps, abandonment, competing priorities, lack of leadership, and inadequate
resources (Sharp Emerson, 2022). However, it is also important to address external
considerations that influence the change, as well. A couple of these external influences are social
and technological factors, each of which has the capability to affect the change readiness of an
organization.
Social Influences on Change Requirements
Social factors tend to play a large role in influencing the change requirement of an
organization. Social factors tend to interrupt a fluid change process through elements such as
changing demographics, cultural shifts, consumer expectations, education levels, and societal
values (PESTLE Analysis Team, 2015). Essentially, these elements have the ability to shape the
attitudes, beliefs, and expectations of a population, which in turn will directly impact the need for
adjustments within the organization. These changes will become necessary to ensure that the
company aligns with evolving societal norms and demographics, such as affecting products,
