strategies

organization
Identify organizational process gaps through

Module Overview
The term strategy means making choices among some feasible options
to have the best chance at winning. Innovation is just one of the
means to achieve your organization's strategic goals. Most
stakeholders within an organization define innovation as a strategic
priority. However, the lack of a clear innovation strategy is a critical
problem, especially for organizations juggling multiple priorities. While
generating an innovation strategy is not particularly difficult, the
challenge arises when aligning it with the organization's overall
business goals.
Innovation strategy focuses on mapping mission, vision, and value
proposition for defined customer markets. This strategy sets
boundaries for your innovation performance expectations by
simplifying and structuring innovation efforts to achieve the best
possible outcome.
This module will help you understand the process of implementing and
evaluating innovative strategies by identifying organizational process
gaps through benchmarking. In this module, you will get introduced to
Cooper’s stage-gate approach. This approach emphasizes the
structured staging process for product development. This module
elaborates on 3M’s case study about innovation strategy and will help
you learn more about different benchmarking processes. At the end of
this module, you will complete a benchmarking study comparing the
organization from the course scenario with 3M. You will also submit a
detailed flowchart to train your team on the processes for
implementing the innovation recommendation you have made.
