Current organizational structure’s impact on innovation.
The current organizational structure and management of our company have been
successful over the years. We present a tall structure within our organization. It’s difficult to to
find the numerous hierarchy levels precisely due to the structure extreme complexity. This makes
the communication and decision making much more difficult, in flatter organization these things
are a smooth transition it comes with small groups compared this large multi-level structure
where it could be sluggish and slow moving. The slowness of communication can hinder the
process of development of product, not have a ton of customers interaction can disable its ability
to pivot and flex to their demands, and negatively impact market competitiveness.
Looking at how the market is changing, we are trying to gain a larger market share on the
IoT-connect vehicles, which is requiring the organization to push more innovative culture. The
organization has many functional Chief Operating Officers. They are task with centralizing its
resources to make the processes more efficient.
This organization must adopt a different structure that embraces creativity and
innovation, to make sure we stay viable competitors in the automobile industry. This process
starts with our leadership team, leadership must fully support and cooperate with its development
team. It’s important that we give a clear and stable vision to the board. This should be cross
functional and have an open exchange of information, flexibility, the opportunity to test the
product, and be able to exchange customer's feedback. When an organization is successful in the
development of business expertise that is difficult to duplicate, part of this is contributed to

innovation. Which can exceed the limits of current technology and shares the market limitations.
Innovation allows upper management to the ability to implement expertise, competence, and
motivation to facilitate organizational strengths during potential market threats and even opt
unity for growth.
Recommend changes to the current organizational structure.
While looking at the positive to our organizational structure and how it supports
innovation, there methods and elements that could be changed to better help us accomplish our
goals. The most critical part of these element is a decentralization of decision-making. Tall
structures help with reducing wasting resources, but we have shown sign of having to become
more agile. My suggestion would be let’s create a middle ground, so we can utilize the stag-gate
method with each of our project management groups, which would allow the higher approvals or
decision form the beginning to head off a waste of resources. I will also recommend creating
faster ways to communicate between the customers-facing employees and decision-making
personnel by creating a focus group that could meet on a routine basis. This group would be
made up of different employees from different region and departments. The would-be task with
communicating whatever information to high-ranking executives. I think moving those of middle
management would help with the communication and the decision-making taking place quickly.
This will also allow employee to feel more open to share the challenges and demands that
customers have communicated. The initial state of innovation should be where the trial-and-error
period takes place. This is a good way to identify innovation that are worth pursuing but also to
learn important lessons from innovations that while not pursued may teach the company
something invaluable.

There are two element that’s important to meet change in a market demand, and
they are the ability to pivot or to multitask and collecting the accurate and current customer
feedback. What I have presented to you for my changes would focus on these two critical
elements for my organization. Establishing stage-gate innovation approach with our project
management teams, this would lead to a quicker response to ending innovations that are not
working by utilizing the gate period of this model. This change would make the company more
agile in response times. Having a frequent focus group would help with brining the most recent
market demands, and customers feedback to the attention of the decision-making personnel in
the quickest and most efficient manner. The last recommendation was the trail and error period,
given the communication amongst a wide range group of employees with the innovation style
would improve. This would allow us to be more effective when looking for ways to make our
innovations better than our competitors.
Organizational changes support a culture of innovation.
There are several factors in our company’s current culture may hinder innovation,
including centralized decision-making, functional silos, and a strong focus on specialization.
These elements can lead to barriers to effective collaboration and a rapid response to changes in
market demand, ultimately impacting our ability to compete, which is detrimental to innovation.
The status of our structure demonstrates a lack of success due to unproductive decision-
making procedures, stringency, absence of multidisciplinary management and connectivity, and
inadequate communication abilities. These issues start to occur when the decision makers are
being so far away from the daily operation and not understanding what’s going on. This has had
led to poor communication, along with uncontrollable delays due to untimely vital decision-

making. Our organization must implement these recommendations to ensure the successful
launch of our IoT vehicles.
