Goal Description: To realize the potential we have as a team and as an individual, I need
to cultivate certain leadership skills and behaviors. Motivating my team through the
establishment of shared objectives and a collective vision of an improved future fosters
creativity and positive transformations.
Leadership Competency: The achievement of this objective will be influenced by the
leadership skill known as “Inspire a Shared Vision”. This skill is characterized by the
ability to envision a future that is both thrilling and morally uplifting (Kouzes & Posner,
2021). This also includes the act of engaging others in a collective vision of goals by
appealing to their own dreams.
S.M.A.R.T. goals are advantageous due to their incorporation of five (5) key elements
that facilitate goal orientation and allow for periodic reassessment as necessary (Leonard,
2022). Goal setting without considering all relevant factors is unlikely to result in a
workable strategy. The S.M.A.R.T. goals are an effective strategy for maintaining
concentration and achieving a desired objective. People often feel tremendous pressure to
achieve these objectives. You should not make individuals work toward impossible
targets. Burnout and low morale can be avoided if expectations are realistic, and goals are
reasonable. S.M.A.R.T. goals serve as an effective method for aligning the expectations
of managers and team members. Effective managers collaborate with their team members
to set goals that align with the overarching organizational objectives, while also ensuring
that these goals are personally fulfilling for the employees and contribute to their sense of
accomplishment.
