First topic:
Robotic Surgery
Robotic surgery will continue to grow and grow each year as
technology continues to develop and become more robust. Through
the advancements within robotic surgery, challenging procedures will
become easier, making it safer for patients to go through necessary
treatment. The opportunities are endless when it comes to robotics.
Robotic surgery allows for smaller incisions, faster recovery for
patients and overall less pain (Raddawi, 2017). Because technology
has the ability to merge with multiple databases, it will allow this field
to grow to the point where robotic will be able to map a patient's
body, diagnose and perform procedures (Future Medical Technology,
n.d.). Over the next 5 years we will see that robotic surgeries will
give surgeons more visualization than they already have and will
continue to advance in the speed at which they are able to perform
procedures. With all of the opportunities, it does come with a set of
challenges. The main challenges that come with robotic surgery is the
cost of these machines and the training that is required (Raddawi,
2017) An ample amount of training is required for the use of these
machines and due to that it may make it difficult to give any
healthcare facility access to these machines.
Nanobots
It is expected that nanobots will become the norm for specific drug
delivery system on a cellular basis (Future Medical Technology, n.d.).
These drugs in precise doses will be able to be controlled by
physicians to target specific cells and then later on may become
automatic. Not only will nanobots become a norm for delivering
drugs, they will also be able to perform minute procedures to target
cancerous or dangerous cells (Future Medical Technology, n.d.).
Nanobots have the opportunity to become an amazing addition to
the medical field and will be able to be used by millions of individuals.
With all of these opportunities, it does come with some challenges. A
major challenge that will be seen throughout the next 5 years is the
development of these nanobots. To develop the nanobots it is on a
very small scale. Due to the small scale, it will create concerning risks
of using new materials and devices at nanoscale and their interaction
with the environment and humans (Vega Baudrit, 2017).
Second topic:
I think that there is always a chance that a different procedure may
result in a better diagnosis. Even though there is a chance, it is not
guaranteed. Sometimes a procedure may be required just to figure
out a specific diagnosis and once physicians have that answer that
can offer different procedures to either further diagnose or treat.
Diagnostic testing is an important topic because this testing requires
all types of tests and different procedures to further diagnose a
patient. I think that if providers only offer one type of procedure to
diagnose someone, there is probably another procedure that would
be better for a diagnosis.
If the problem is more accurately diagnosed the likelihood of a better
cure is much higher compared to a problem that was misdiagnosed.
This is because if a provider is treating a patient for an issue they
don't have, the issue will not get better. An accurate diagnosis is
needed for the best cure possible because providers need to know
what they are treating before the start the treatment. It is said that
when a diagnosis is accurate and made in a timely manner, the
patient has the best opportunity for a positive outcome because the
clinical decision making will be tailored to the correct understand of
what is wrong with the patient (Balogh et al, 2015).
