You covered blood and cardiovascular diseases in Module Two. This module
will cover respiratory diseases and their drug treatments. All systems of the
body are interrelated, but the anatomical and physiological connection
between cardiovascular and respiratory systems is evident. The
cardiovascular system pumps blood to the lungs, where the exchange of
gases happens, and then the oxygenated blood comes back to the heart to
be pumped out to the whole body.
People frequently suffer from respiratory conditions. Therefore, it is
important that you recognize their symptoms and signs, and that you know
what diagnostic tests are commonly used. In this module, you will consider
the drugs frequently used to treat respiratory disorders as well. Make sure
you also review antibacterial drugs. Antibacterial medications are not
specifically for the respiratory system, but bacterial infectious diseases of
this system will be covered in this module as well. The activities and
information that you will explore in this module will provide you with
practical information that will help you accomplish your job as a health
information management professional.
