Wellness has greatly expanded as a result of analyzing it through the
four lenses learned in this course because I knew there were different
aspects of wellness in regards to people who look healthy verses
those who don't. I almost always viewed wellness at a physical health
verses all the other lenses that could be applied to wellness, such as
emotional, spiritual, mental and physical. Looking through the four
different lenses has allowed me to have a deeper understanding of
wellness and how to apply these lenses to other issues in wellness.
The potential implications of current discussions about wellness for
the future would be figuring out how to maintain our social, mental,
and physical wellness with the major changes stemming from this
pandemic. Within the last 3 years, we have all had to learn to distance
ourselves and I feel this has had a major impact on wellness in our
society. Everyone's wellness is going through something and our
social interactions are awkward and very far and few in between. This
will bring more awareness about how the general wellness including
mental health issues are interlinked and need to be addressed
because mental health is just as important as physical health. The
movement for talking about mental health has already been started, I
can only predict it will continue to be talked about to ensure people
are getting the help they need.
The critical analysis skills that I have learned in this course will
support me personally, academically, and professionally because it
taught me how to take a view point and apply it to other aspects of
my life such as my physical health, mental wellness, and spiritually. It
has also taught me to take a topic and looking at it from all lenses, and
ask critical questions which help me get an even deeper
understanding of the topic. I will need this skill when I am working as
a healthcare administrator because I will need to can understand the
current medical market and bring in solutions to help with adaptation.
As a healthcare administrator, I will need to be able to critically
evaluate all angles of a decision and its potential outcomes. Then,
analyze the risks and benefits for the particular needs of the hospital.
