My field of study is business. I feel as if learning the humanities and using them properly
will allow me to do my job well. The specific degree I would like to achieve is Business
Administration. Seeing that in this field I will be dealing with different people from
different backgrounds, it will be necessary to know the perspective of humanities. I think
with the knowledge I will obtain from this course it will have a major impact on my career.
It will give me the ability to communicate better with others and allow me to look at things
from a different perspective before reacting. Through the trials and tribulations in this
course thus far, I believe the perspective of the humanities will have a positive impact on
my future professional career because it helps to expand my knowledge of different
human cultures through many forms of art and experience. My future professional career
as an FBI special agent, I will be amongst all walks of life, experiencing different countries
and cultures, religions, and ways of living. Humanities broadens my horizons on how to
access different cultures and learn life through different lenses. For example, for the first
year of my training, it is mandatory for all new recruits to work at the home office in
Washington, DC, afterwards I will be placed in a field office out of one of two places,
Madrid, Spain or Moscow, Germany, both have vastly different cultures and governments
they follow. Having a high insight on the humanities will help me open myself to learning
these cultures and digest the differences.
Humanities play a central role in my career in the most simple but impactful way; See, to
understand the humanities is to understand different people, different cultures, and
different perspectives. In my line of work, it is extremely important to possess knowledge
in these areas because we rely heavily on teamwork and communication. The concepts are
very simple and easy to understand, but in the implementation of these concepts lies the
challenge. Through the knowledge of the values that different sub-cultures possess and the
problem-solving skills that each person brings to the table, a team can work more
cohesively in the accomplishment of tasks. Hello everyone! My career is directly related to
the humanities so it will have a positive impact. I am an actor, specifically focused on
musical theatre. My job is to convey a story to the audience so I use the humanities to help
me. When I receive a script, I really look at it and think about what the author wanted the
audience to feel. This helps me tell the story in the best way. The techniques we used in
this class to look at art is the same techniques I use in the rehearsal process. Since my
career is very focused in the humanities, I would be very interested to hear from others
who careers may be less connected to the humanities.
