Ethics in Humanities
The artifact that I chose is kwame akoto-bamfo sculptures in a lake. This artifact depicts the
slaves that drowned during their passage through the Atlantic Ocean. I love this because I feel like even
though it is never forgotten it still needs to be understood. Slavery was a huge part of US history and to
show the struggles and hardships that Black people faced during that time is a huge part in taking some
of the many steps in understanding our history. It always hits home for me because I am black and I live
in Virginia where the first slave ship ever landed in America. So, to have someone creating a bit of
history to add to our already long history is amazing. Someone making sure the story is never forgotten.
