In Chapter 6 we learned about the different models of delivery. These models consist of the
medical model, the public health model, and the human service model. Within the medical
model, they talk about how the person coming for help has a disease or illness (Woodside
2018). In this model, they deal a lot with clients who are sick. The public health model
resembles the medical model but goes into the discussion of treatments and diagnosis
(Woodside 2018). This model is different from the medical one because it goes into
individuals' diseases and how they affect the population. Lastly, the human service model
details the correlation between an individual and their environment (Woodside 2018). This
last model takes into consideration the first two models but takes it a step further by looking
at how the client's environment affects them. You can clearly see that these models are
different, they have their similarities but in the end, they are different. I really enjoyed this
chapter and how they went into each model. It definitely opened my eyes to the different
services.
