hastoabodebythepatient'swishes,notwhattheyfeelisbestfor
thepatient(Smith,2016).Aswecontinueinmedicine,
deprofessionalizationwillcontinueatanevenmorerapidpace
becauseitbecomesmoreprevalentovertime.Medicineinmy
opinion,hasbecomemorepoliticalratherthanactuallyservingthe
needsofthepatients."Thesecularistsdon’tthinkitiswrongtoforce
doctorstoparticipateinlife-takingorreligiouslyproscribed
procedures"(Smith,2016).Thismeansthatifapatientbelievethey
shouldlive,thedoctorhastodoeverythingintheirpowertoensure
theykeepthemliving,buttheymaynotagreeandthepatient's
wishesmaynotcometrue.
