2. Summarize: This article presents both sides of the issue, in favor of and against the
insanity plea. This article delves into whether the Supreme Court should constitutionalize
the insanity defense or if it should be handled on a state-by-state basis. Is mental illness
something that should be taken into consideration when sentencing someone, how
precedent cases affect the ways people perceive the insanity defense, statistics, history of
it and the constitution of abolishing it, and the way one defines it, are all matters to be
examined
