Should a country have an official language? If a country is
recognized by the rest of the world, and has a government, currency,
a flag, means to defend itself, and to be able to help other nations
yes, I believe that country should have an official language.
Are some languages more important than others? I think that all
languages are very important to all people. It is a part of their
culture, and it is a part of their lives. Language is a huge part that
makes people unique. Language is a reason why we have different
countries in this world. I do believe some jobs require to speak the
same language. For example, pilots and air traffic control is required
to speak English worldwide.
Should English be the main international language? No English
should not be the main international language. If it was then it
defeats the purpose of exploring the rest of the world. Yes, it helps
when it comes to the language barrier if you need something like
directions or if you need help, and or if you are in the military doing
a bilateral training. But if you are going to travel for vacation and or
a deployment you as an individual should take the initiative to at
least learn the basic of that country native tongue. We as Americans
always judge a person that travels to the USA. We expect them to
know English especially if they want something. And in return we
are rude and arrogant towards them. Now imagine how they feel
when Americans travel to their country.
I have tried to learn Arabic and continue to learn the language. Like
most things that are new and different it takes commitment, time,
dedication, and a lot of practice. My experience learning Arabic is
not the greatness. I am in a leadership billet, and I must direct
training or teach tactics to the host nation, and I find myself
sounding uneducated when it comes to Arabic language. I feel like I
sound dump and always pronounce something wrong.
I think that its unique that there is a show is Arabic. I was curious to
see what the Aljazeera was and its a interesting show to watch. It
also gives a lot of world news that some other news channel do no
bother to give. It is also a good source of information about the
middle eastern cultures.
