The industry has several components and departments which make
the operations and logistics for the healthcare world to continue to
run in a transitional and effective manner. From the Infectious
Control team to the training and certification team, and even the
post-secondary education and careers team for recent college
graduates, it is vital to have these different roles and functions even
though the management of the information can differ between each
other. The Cancer Registrar operated by certified individuals who are
part of the National Cancer Registrars Association administrator
(NCRA) credentialing. Billing Coding specialists, earn their
certification in properly understanding the current and past medical
terminology and have some clinical knowledge to transcribe
diagnoses/procedural codes into billable ICD codes. These are
positions that do not necessarily require a nursing or medical doctor
academic degree; however, higher-up management, such as the chief
information officer (CIO), will typically earn their Master of Business
Administration in Healthcare Management and no necessary need to
have earned their medical degree. The CIO in part is responsible for
making important decisions regarding the current technological
functions within the business, the importance of keeping up with an
organization of the number of equipment ordered where it falls
within budget. The discussion is then brought to the C-class
committee and possibly the board of direct to further discuss the
management and distribution of funds and the equivalent purposes
behind them.
