After taking all the quizzes, I felt that I had issues with most of the questions. Some
of the questions were like a guessing game to me. With the regular quizzes, we
have more time to research the answer in our study book. The mock exams were
more stressful because we were on a time limit. With the time limit in place, I felt
stressed and rushed, which resulted with the inability to go over the questions
thoroughly in my mind. This then resulted in a rushed answer without giving much
thought to it. As most quizzes go, there were some easy questions that allowed me
to answer with ease. With this being said, I cannot say that there was any particular
area on the quizzes that were more difficult or challenging for me, other than
having a time limit. After taking the domain quizzes, my major area of weakness was
in Domain 3: Data Analytics and Informatics. I was actually surprised at how
much of an area of weakness this was for me. What I need to do differently is to
prepare more and practice the E/M, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT
coding rules. My new approach is to create my own practice quizzes that
concentrate on medical coding. In addition, I will use the flashcards that go along
with those Cengage Modules to prepare myself for the RHIA exam. Over
the course of the last few weeks, I noticed a few errors. One for me is being
more aware and understanding of laws and strategies. Another is statistics, I have
struggled with stats in almost every class I have taken. I am not good at math at all. I
do have some strengths though, one being coding. I can remember patterns and
codes. Another strength I have is knowing HIPAA, with me riding with my local fire
department I have understood and adapted to new changes over the years. I am
more of a hands-on person rather than book, but my strategy could be to make flash
cards or read an hour or two more a day.
Information Governance Domain Quiz- 83.9
Compliance with uses and disclosures of PHI domain Quiz- 90.5
Data Analytics and Informatics Domain Quiz-87.2
Revenue Management Domain Quiz- 92.3
Management and Leadership Domain Quiz- 95.8
Out of all 5 quizzes the lowest score was 83.9 in Information Governance
Domain. I also scored low in Data Analytics and Informatics Domain Quiz
with a score of
87.2. Since the quizzes have unlimited chances of taking the quiz, I am going to
study those topics again, use flashcards, and sample quizzes that MindTap provides
and also retake the quizzes once I feel more comfortable with the material. Also, I
am going to go the AHIMA website and see if they have any sample/mock tests
that I can use to retest myself. I like that when I go to the results of each quiz, it has
an explanation for each answer. It helps me to understand how they came up with
the answer. There is also books that have study material for RHIA exams with
helpful hints and practice exams which I will also look into to help me be more
successful in the areas I was struggling in. When it comes to preparing for the RHIA
test, the areas of health statistics and research as well as ICD-10-CM/PCS coding
will take the biggest amount of my attention and effort. Despite this, I will
need to devote some of my time to concentrating on each aspect. Because I don't
know what kinds of questions will be asked, I don't want to become too confident in
any one particular area. Continuing to test my knowledge with mock tests would be
really beneficial for
me. They assist you in determining not just the topics on which you should
concentrate, but also the ideas included inside those topics on which you
should work to improve your understanding. In addition to that, I want to make use of
the Professional Review Guide, the textbook HIM Principles by Oachs and Watters,
and I would like to become a member of a study group. Reading and memorization
have shown to be the most effective study methods for me in the past, therefore I
will use flash cards and review exams taken from earlier classes. After submitting
the application, I will have a window of four months during which I may choose a test
date; hence, I plan to devote the whole of that time to preparation. I believe that if I
schedule two hours of study time every other day, it will provide me with sufficient
preparation time without causing me to get overwhelmed. Because I have a better
chance of storing new knowledge in my long-term memory if I study close to the
time that I go to sleep, I plan to rearrange my obligations so that I will have the
opportunity to do so. I am looking forward to gaining even more useful information
and advice from all of you.
