For most, we look for convenience and things that make our lives easier. With a finger
tap, many can access over a thousand products and deliver them straight to their door. “Work
Hard, Have Fun, Make History.” It is what the Amazon company aims to do. Amazon altered the
e-commerce retail market and also transformed the customer shopping experience. Amazon
impacts human behavior because it changed the human shopping experience, making it easier for
its customers to have a seamless shopping experience with quicker chatroom replies and overall
convenience. As we look at the article, How the “Amazon Effect” has impacted E-commerce it
explains the expectations customers now have when buying and selling products. “Thanks
largely in part to Amazon, consumers now expect a brand to know their personal preferences
across changes.” (Clark 2023).
Amazon prides itself on taking the necessary risks and encourages innovation measures to
stay ahead of its competitors while guaranteeing customer satisfaction. Amazon offers better
deals, prime free 2-day shipping to Amazon Prime members, an Amazon Choice option,
personalized preferences with product offerings, customer reviews, a buy now option on
products, and 30-day free returns on millions of items. Amazon has transformed human behavior
because now most people have higher expectations when they shop online, which takes away
from traditional shopping habits and discourages shoppers from wanting to shop with other small
businesses. Another factor is that Amazon offers better and more transparent pricing. This allows
others to compare pricing and go for the better price set. The result causes shoppers to purchase
from Amazon rather than another company. Amazon has discouraged certain behaviors because
now shoppers expect the same service in other e-commerce stores.

Amazon takes pride in an Eco leadership approach. They acknowledge that they want to
make sure their customers' satisfactions are met and want to make sure they are thinking more of
innovative perspectives. “Eco-leadership pays a particular attention to leading from the edge,
enabling marginalized voices to be heard, and bringing fresh ideas, experiences, knowledge and
resources.” (Eco 2024). Providing the best customer service is important for a company like
Amazon. They are known for focusing on their customer's wants and needs. The company also
focused on innovation practices. With technology advancing, Amazon tries to stay ahead of the
curve and always trying new things to stay ahead of its competitors. Staying ahead, focusing on
customer satisfaction, taking risks, and investing in growing the company have helped Amazon
foster its long-term existence. “We invest for the long term and continually refine and improve
our offering based on customer feedback. Our business today is evidence of this. We always keep
focus on the long-term value we can provide customers.” (Amazon 2019). Long-term thinking
and investing in the company have helped Amazon long-term. Working by putting customers
first and investing in new ideas, innovative ideas, and better service has helped Amazon foster
long-term existence.
