To Padgett-Beale Constituents,
This letter is being written regarding the increased concerns from
guests on the possibilities of cyber-attacks occurring while at
Padgett-Beale locations. With “36 billion records being exposed in
the first three quarters of 2020” (Fortinet, n.d.), it is
understandable that many will worry. Rest assured, we at Padgett-
Beale hospitalities take the utmost care in protecting you, your
privacy, and your data.
The most recurring concerns that guests have voiced are the
news reports of door lock, guest Wi-Fi, and credit card
information breaches that others in the industry have suffered
from. Padgett-Beale has unlinked, back up systems in place ready
to rollover on a dimes notice in order to protect data and return
the duration guest’s stay to normal. To help prevent such an
attack from ever happening, some cyber security tips and
practices have been included below.
“It is often said that the biggest threat to data is from the person
who owns it. EC-Council (2016). Remember to be vigilant about
cyber security on a personal level. Do not share login information
with anyone, do not click any links in emails from unknown
senders, and most importantly make sure before clicking any links
from known email senders that you think about the context of
the email and ask Would this individual actually send you an
email of this nature? Does this email sound like the person sent
it? Even innocent, seemingly unrelated questions can lead to
deciphering pieces of personal information and breaching security.
Padgett-Beale employees will never ask for your personal login
information to anything via email, over the phone, or through any
means. If you receive anything like this, please report it
immediately, and our staff will see that the issue is addressed.
During this time, we all must work together to ensure the safety
and security of our systems, please be patient as it may take
longer for pages to load and things to open while accessing them
through our guest Wi-Fi. This is due to increased stress on our
firewall to deal with attempted attacks. You may even find that
there could be sites that may be open one minute but blocked
the next. This is because we are working to ensure that, here at
Padgett-Beale, we do not have a cyber event and being proactive
and implementing Country Blocking and blocking IP addresses as
recommended by our security partners.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to
staff and we would be happy to provide further assistance.
Remember, cyber security is everyone's responsibility. As users of
technology, we must remain vigilant, responsible, and patient to
protect ourselves and others.
Sincerely,
Padgett-Beale Inc. Intern
