1. Do you agree or disagree with the author's assertions regarding
seasonal employees and cybersecurity risks in the work place? Why?
• Yes, I do agree with the author’s assertions regarding seasonal
employees. Seasonal employees are usually around the holidays
peak season. This is the best time for a cyberattack because majority
of the staff is new and also hackers can apply to a company and try
to steal or get more information about the company’s systems.
2. What steps can (should) managers take to reduce security risks
associated with hiring seasonal or temporary employees? (Consider
whether or not the Secure Computer User training course would be
appropriate for these employees.)
• Provide security awareness training
• Make sure that all access codes are deactivated on the employees
last day of work.
• Grant the employees the minimum privileges they need to complete
their job.
By properly managing and monitoring the full user life cycle of seasonal
employees, retailers can better position themselves to avoid a breach that
could hinder their company's success during the most critical shopping
season of the year.
3. How can managers show leadership in the area of cybersecurity
defenses and best practices?
• Provide Up-to-Date Education on the Latest Threats- The manager
can stay on top of the threats and bring them to the attention of the
team; this creates awareness and everyone is alert.
• Lead your team for a strong security culture, everyone is the
organization needs to be educated on the threats of cybersecurity
attack.
• closely managing their access environment, and ensuring the access
is terminated as soon as employment ends.
