Now that you’ve reviewed the resources about the court system, you are
familiar with the four purposes of punishment: deterrence, incapacitation,
retribution, and rehabilitation. In this 350- to 500-word journal entry, address
the following:
● Prioritize these four purposes of punishment.
○ In your personal opinion, which of the four purposes do you think
is the most important? The least? Rank them.
● Explain where capital punishment fits into your prioritization.
○ How does capital punishment fit into each purpose? For example,
how does capital punishment fit into the purpose of deterrence?
Explain.
● Explain your opinion on capital punishment using the four purposes as a
foundation.
○ How does each purpose you have prioritized align to your
personal opinion on capital punishment?
○ Do the purposes align perfectly, or are there misalignment? For
example, if you indicated incapacitation as your highest priority,
how does capital punishment align to this purpose?
○ In either case (alignment or misalignment), why do you think this
is?

The vast majority of people handed down death sentences have already been found
guilty of the offense for which they were arrested. Those sentenced to death will always be in
prison. Recovery is not possible with the death penalty because it requires the litigants to live in
isolation. The death penalty squeezes into retaliation since it very well may be viewed as the
individual getting a similar discipline as the casualty like tit for tat. Additionally, it does not fall
under the definition of incapacitation because the defendants subjected to it are placed in
solitary confinement, which means that they are restricted to a single location. If a defendant
receives the death penalty and is later found guilty of the crime they were accused of, they will
never be allowed to leave prison. Does the danger of the passing of casualty impact crime
percentage conduct more than detainments.
My closely-held conviction is that I neither help nor go against capital punishment on the
grounds that, assuming the wrongdoing fulfills the prerequisites, the litigant should be rebuffed
in any way that the court or jury considers suitable, particularly in the event that capital
punishment significantly affects the person in the sentence and for equity. The Department of
Justice (DOJ), which is able to prosecute the case, is able to control this type of justice, which
originated in the late 1600s. Due to its inhumanity, racial discrimination, execution methods,
irreversible nature, and unjustifiable retribution, I oppose the death penalty. Measurably capital
punishment says that it obviously saves a greater number of lives than what was lost. Capital
punishment is proper for my most memorable objective of revenge because of the way that first-
degree murder allegations demonstrate that the litigant arranged and pondered the homicide
preceding its execution. California, Oregon, and Pennsylvania are among the states that do not
recognize the death penalty. I agree that the most appropriate punishment would be death row
because the litigant took extraordinary measures to commit the crime. Capital punishment is
predictable with retaliation since it depends on the fairness rule, which expresses that in the
event that a wrongdoing is murder, the death penalty would fit the wrongdoing.
