While reviewing the website “Gateway to Health Communication:
Know Your Audience opens in a new window,” it has been identified
how health professionals can tailor their health communication to
meet the specific audience and their needs. The professional
healthcare experts need to focus on the potential audience by
targeting tailored messages, policies and activities. The research
study says the health professional requires understanding the needs
of the audience on a personal level, like their behaviours, lifestyles,
and motivations (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2019).
While reviewing the website “PPT: Designing an Effective
PowerPoint Presentation: Quick Guide opens in a new window,” the
researcher has found a sample PowerPoint presentation that has
provided information relating to designing an effective PowerPoint
presentation. It has highlighted that designing a PowerPoint requires
considering the project topic, purpose, audience, and presentation
length.
Based on my understanding of my chosen community, I have some
ideas for presentations in community health education. In this
presentation, I would like to draft the introductory part where I
would like to tell about the importance of community health and why
all community people need to stay healthy. To make my presentation
more effective, I would like to include tables, charts, images etc., to
provide only relevant information. As mentioned before, the health
professional requires understanding the needs of the audience on a
personal level, like their behaviours, lifestyles, and motivations. It is
also important to focus on some activities that can influence their
lifestyle, behaviour, and motivations. I have a good plan to organize a
local walk or run that can motivate them to stay fit and spread their
community message to others. Another idea can be organizing a
blood drive that can help to maintain a healthy community. Apart
from that, offering a community health screening can be another
good idea that can help healthcare professionals to observe and test
the present health conditions of the community and provide better
services at the community level. Moreover, creating resources for
mental health awareness can be helpful for the presentations in
community health education. However, the present presentation will
involve a proper plan and benefits to bring better health conditions
to the community. For example, I have chosen the North Dakota
community to address their health needs. Thus, I have to focus on
health communication to reach the specific needs of the audience by
targeting tailored messages, policies and activities. While developing
such messages, activities and policies, it will be essential to look after
the attractiveness of the presentation that can come from the size,
colour and type contrasts.
