Power point presentations are very informative and power packed with
information. I plan on including pictures of the whole spectrum of groups
within my community. From pastors and elite figures to people who do not
have a home. Unfortunately, everyone knows of or has someone in their life in
which the person struggles with opioid abuse. Some recover to share their
journey and some do not. I will also include graphs that will support my claim
of why there is a dire need of attention to be had on people with substance use
disorder.
After reviewing both resources, I gained a lot of insight. My specific
community is made up of young adults, which means slideshows
need to be presented differently than it would to other populations
such as older adults or children. In my slideshow about teen
pregnancy, which will be shown to young adults I would try to
incorporate many different things to try and keep them engaged.
Here are some examples:
• Statistics - ex: By age 22 only 50% of young mothers graduate
high school compared to their 90% of their peers who did not
have a teen pregnancy and teen fathers have a 25%-30%
chance of not graduating high school.
• An eye catching design and theme - this will keep them
interested and help them focus more on what the slide is saying
• Animations - animations will also aid in keeping them interested
and focused
• Interactive Aspects ex: a Q&A section, a game, or a stopping
point to have them chat with peers about their opinions
• Keeping it easy to follow - the slideshow will need to be clear
and organized well. One way of doing this is to have an
overview, body, and conclusion.
• Make it inclusive a presentation on teen pregnancy can feel
targeted towards cisgender women, I would make sure to
include both teen fathers, as well as those in the LGBTQIA+
community
