I could think of many changes I have done in the past but the one that
I am still working on is adjusting my life choice, and eating habits and
making sure I get enough rest after I was diagnosed with four auto-
immune diseases. This has been a tough pill to swallow considering I
was always so active and pretty healthy. Psoriatic arthritis and
osteoarthritis were conditions I never thought I could get at my age. I
was diagnosed 10 years ago. It has been a struggle considering
arthritis is pretty much inflammation of the joints. Unfortunately, I am
allergic to NSAIDs (Advil, Motrin, Aleve) which makes it that much
harder to reduce the inflammation I have. I have had to change my
food intake. I have had to research what foods cause a lot of
inflammation and stay away from those. I can't do any impact
exercises because my joints can't handle the pain. Now I focus on
yoga, swimming, and walking. I mentioned I had to make sure I get
enough rest, was because this year I found out I have fibromyalgia.
My doctor said plenty of rest is highly required because the body
feels drained. I had to stop staying up late and make sure I get eight
hours of sleep, which requires me to go to sleep by eight or nine.
Living with any type of illness is very debilitating but by making
changes to your life things don't have to be that bad.
