I believe that there is reason for all the regulations and each one serves a purpose to
protect consumers, the economy and our Earth. I think that the regulations that are put in
place to protect our environment are extremely important. Many business practices result
in waste, emissions, and a need for raw materials that are derived from the Earth. Without
regulations, there would be a faster degradation of our soil and land and we would be
faced with even faster global warming than what is already occurring. Although there are
regulations and taxes in place to help encourage responsible and sustainable business
practices, there still are not enough. The EPA allows a certain number of pollutants and
toxins in our soil and water which are of concern. Waste runoff into water sources can also
be an issue and needs to be more strictly enforced. The EPA enforces certain regulations
on waste, emissions and pollutants which can cost the business a lot of money to be in
compliance with. I think that if the EPA put in place more strict emissions regulations, we
would see more sustainable practices brought to light. Although at first the costs may be
high, once these practices become common practice, the costs will begin to subside. If
businesses are not regulated on their environmental impact, our ecosystems would
deteriorate at an alarming rate and sickness among consumers would spread even faster.
