Three required elements of the SSVS include professional
competence, independence and establishing an understanding with
the client.
• Professional competence - you need to have the suitable skills,
knowledge and experience to be able to take on and complete
the engagements.
• Independence - you need to act with integrity and exercise
objectivity and professional skepticism during the engagements
• Establishing an Understanding with the Client - you need to
have an engagement letter signed with the client to outline the
services to be performed, the responsibilities taken and the
fees for the engagement.
The SSVS is similar to other professional standards by creating rules
to unsure uniform, consistent and comparable reporting.
